FREE REVIEW TAGS FROM A SCAN

Found something without a label? Tag it for review.

Scan whatever code the item, its packaging or its shelf carries, record what you found and where, and print a clear tag so the next person knows it is waiting for review.

Free to use. No account, email address or trial. Works offline once prepared.

Fictional values from an example walk. A review tag records an observation; it does not hold stock or approve anything.

MADE FOR THE FLOOR

For stores, goods-in and despatch staff who find unlabelled items, unknown parts or damaged packaging and need to pass them to someone who can identify or deal with them.

A USEFUL STARTING POINT

Say what you saw, not more than you know

An unknown item needs a note that stays with it and a record someone can follow up. TagBench keeps the code you scanned exactly as it is, does not look it up or guess what the item is, and marks the tag as an informal observation. It does not quarantine or hold anything, so if your quality procedure needs a hold, apply it there as well.

FROM QUESTION TO EVIDENCE

Three steps to a useful result.

  1. 01

    Identify what you can

Scan a barcode on the item, its packaging or the shelf it sits on, or type a code. Add a description such as "grey fittings, no part number" and the location where you found it.

  2. 02

    Choose the reason

Use Identify item for unknown parts, Packaging damage for torn or crushed packs, or Review storage when material is in the wrong place. Write what the next person needs to know.

  3. 03

Leave the tag with the item

Print the 100 × 150 mm tag or an A4 sheet and attach it. When someone identifies the item, record the answer as a new revision or archive the tag locally.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

The code stays exactly as scanned

At goods-in, a carton on rack R2 carries only a supplier barcode, 0004417. Choose Identify item and note "Delivered without a delivery note, no order number found". The tag and the CSV both show 0004417, not 4417. The next day stores find the order, add revision 2 with its number and print a fresh tag. Revision 1 stays in the tag's history and the CSV.

USED IN PRODUCTION

From a tag on the floor to a fix at the source.

TagBench records what someone noticed. When the same finding keeps coming back, such as items without the right label or offcuts nobody can identify, two SmartFACT services deal with the cause. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.

Early access

LabelRules

If walks keep finding items without the right label, the fix is usually where the label is made. LabelRules turns label rules you describe in plain English into approved rules that select and check each job's label automatically before printing.

Early access

RemnantRack

If the unidentified material is offcuts on the racks, RemnantRack gives every reusable piece a label, an exact measured length and a confirmed bin, so the next job can find it instead of cutting new stock.

BEFORE YOU START

A few practical answers.

Does TagBench look up the code?

No. TagBench has no item list and makes no lookups. It records the code exactly as captured, so whoever follows up can search for it in your own system.

Is the tag a quarantine or hold label?

No. It records an observation for review. It does not hold stock in any system or authorise use or disposal. Use your site's own hold or quarantine process where one is required.

What if the item has no barcode at all?

Type a code instead: a location such as R2-04, a supplier reference or any identifier your site uses, up to 128 characters. An identifier is required for every tag.

What are the current limits?

TagBench records informal observations. A tag does not hold stock, isolate a machine, approve use, authorise disposal or raise a maintenance request, and Reviewed here and Archived locally are your own notes, not decisions. There are no photos, shared lists, email, assignments or follow-up: one person works on a project, on one device. The QR code holds a local reference, not a link, so it opens a tag only where that project is loaded. A project holds up to 500 tags, 20 revisions per tag and 2,000 revisions in total. Identifiers can be up to 128 characters, descriptions and locations 160 and notes 500. The four review reasons are fixed. A note too long for the 100 × 150 mm tag stops that download with a message, so choose A4. The camera reads Code 128, QR, Data Matrix, EAN and UPC barcodes; for other symbols use a keyboard scanner or type the code. The review CSV adds an apostrophe before text a spreadsheet could treat as a formula; the project backup keeps exact values.

What happens to my data?

Your tags stay in this browser. A temporary session keeps them in memory only while the tab is open; Save on this device keeps them between visits. Nothing you scan or write is uploaded, and camera images are decoded on your device and never stored. No account or contact details are needed to make tags or download them. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives identifiers, notes, locations or file contents. Use Analytics settings, or Change preference in the tool, to change your choice; see /privacy/.
