FREE REVIEW TAGS FROM A SCAN

Free review tags from a scan, without another system to set up.

Scan an item, machine or location, choose a reason and write what needs attention. TagBench keeps the code exactly as scanned, makes a readable tag to print and keeps a review list on your device. No account required.

Free to use. No account, email address or trial. Works offline once prepared.

Fictional values from an example walk. A review tag records an observation; it does not hold stock or approve anything.

MADE FOR THE FLOOR

For team leaders, stores staff, supervisors and workshop owners who find something that needs a second look: an unlabelled item, damaged packaging, material in the wrong place or anything picked out during a 5S sort.

A USEFUL STARTING POINT

The tag and the list say the same thing

A paper tag and a separate notebook drift apart: a code is copied wrongly, or nobody can tell which note belongs to which item. TagBench takes the identifier from a scan, keeps it exactly, including leading zeroes, and puts the same text on the printed tag and in your review list. It records what you saw. It does not place a hold, isolate a machine or approve anything, so your own procedures stay in charge.

FROM SCAN TO TAG

Three steps to a clear tag.

  1. 01

    Scan the item or location

Scan its barcode with the camera or a keyboard scanner, or type the code. Scanning only fills the identifier: nothing becomes a tag until you choose Create reviewed tag.

  2. 02

    Say what needs attention

Add a description and location if they help, choose a review reason and write a short note. The preview shows exactly what the tag says.

  3. 03

Print it and keep the list

Download an A4 PDF or a 100 × 150 mm tag and print it on your own printer. When the walk is finished, download the review list as a CSV.

WHAT IT DOES

What a tagging walk needs.

  1. 01

    Exact identifiers

Codes keep their leading zeroes, case and spaces. Leading and trailing spaces in the identifier are marked in the preview, so you can see exactly what was captured.

  2. 02

    Camera, scanner or keyboard

Use a phone or laptop camera for Code 128, QR, Data Matrix, EAN and UPC barcodes, a USB or Bluetooth scanner that types like a keyboard, or type the code.

  3. 03

    Tags in two sizes

Each tag shows the reason, identifier, description, location, note, revision and a QR code. A note that does not fit the 100 × 150 mm tag is never cut short: TagBench asks you to use A4.

  4. 04

    Corrections as revisions

Correcting a tag adds a new revision. Earlier revisions stay readable and downloadable, so a tag already printed still matches a revision in the list.

  5. 05

Find a tag by its QR code

Scan the QR code on a printed tag to open that tag in your list. It is a local reference, not a web address, so it works only where the project is loaded.

  6. 06

A review list for the follow-up

Download every tag and revision as a CSV with the identifier, location, reason, note, time and local status. Open it with the identifier column set to text to keep leading zeroes.

WHERE YOUR TAGS ARE KEPT

On this device, unless you choose otherwise.

TagBench starts each session as a temporary project in memory, so closing or refreshing the tab clears it. Save on this device keeps tags in this browser between visits, for anyone using the same browser profile. Neither is a cloud backup: download a project backup to keep a copy or move the work to another device. Nothing you scan or write is uploaded.

USED IN PRODUCTION

From a tag on the floor to a fix at the source.

TagBench records what someone noticed. When the same finding keeps coming back, such as items without the right label or offcuts nobody can identify, two SmartFACT services deal with the cause. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.

Early access

LabelRules

If walks keep finding items without the right label, the fix is usually where the label is made. LabelRules turns label rules you describe in plain English into approved rules that select and check each job's label automatically before printing.

Early access

RemnantRack

If the unidentified material is offcuts on the racks, RemnantRack gives every reusable piece a label, an exact measured length and a confirmed bin, so the next job can find it instead of cutting new stock.

BEFORE YOU START

A few practical answers.

Is it really free?

Yes. Making tags, revisions, the review list, saving, backups and every download are free, with no account, email address or trial. The limits on tags and revisions keep the browser reliable, and they are the same for everyone.

What do I need?

A recent browser on a phone, tablet or computer. To scan with the camera, allow camera access when asked. A USB or Bluetooth scanner that types like a keyboard also works, or you can type the code. To print, any printer that prints a PDF at actual size; PrintBench helps check that.

Does it work without internet?

Once prepared. Open TagBench while connected and choose Prepare for offline use. Making tags, the review list and downloads then work without a connection. The first visit needs the internet, and camera scanning still depends on your browser and camera permission.

Does a tag put the item on hold?

No. A TagBench tag records an observation for someone to review. It does not hold stock, isolate equipment, approve use or authorise disposal, and nothing is sent to another system. Follow your site's own procedure for those decisions.

What are the limits?

TagBench records informal observations. A tag does not hold stock, isolate a machine, approve use, authorise disposal or raise a maintenance request, and Reviewed here and Archived locally are your own notes, not decisions. There are no photos, shared lists, email, assignments or follow-up: one person works on a project, on one device. The QR code holds a local reference, not a link, so it opens a tag only where that project is loaded. A project holds up to 500 tags, 20 revisions per tag and 2,000 revisions in total. Identifiers can be up to 128 characters, descriptions and locations 160 and notes 500. The four review reasons are fixed. A note too long for the 100 × 150 mm tag stops that download with a message, so choose A4. The camera reads Code 128, QR, Data Matrix, EAN and UPC barcodes; for other symbols use a keyboard scanner or type the code. The review CSV adds an apostrophe before text a spreadsheet could treat as a formula; the project backup keeps exact values.

What happens to my data?

Your tags stay in this browser. A temporary session keeps them in memory only while the tab is open; Save on this device keeps them between visits. Nothing you scan or write is uploaded, and camera images are decoded on your device and never stored. No account or contact details are needed to make tags or download them. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives identifiers, notes, locations or file contents. Use Analytics settings, or Change preference in the tool, to change your choice; see /privacy/.
